Just wanted to update everyone on the progress of The Pomeroy Cafe and Grocery. Things are moving along nicely. Cleaning and renovations have been in progress all week, and we are finally seeing results. The cleaning process has been more than I expected and therefore the opening date has been moved back a couple of days to Thursday, July 8th. The restaurant will be up and running and the grocery store will be open, but is a work in progress. I appreciate everyone's patience and support with the changes and hope to have the grocery store 100% by the end of July and possibly sooner. If there are certain products you would like to see offered in the grocery store please let me know. There will be a suggestion box at the store or you can email me. I am also looking for a few volunteers to help with inventory and cleaning at the store. I am offering gift certificates to the cafe in exchange for your volunteer help. Most of the hiring has been done, but I'm still looking for a sous chef and maître d'. Either stop by or call me at 515-231-9035. The Pomeroy Cafe keys are now in my hands and the preparations for opening day have begun. There is a lot of work to be done, but I am hoping to be open by Tuesday July 6th. I will update everyone later in the week on whether this date will be for sure. The cafe will still be serving soft serve ice cream. The Pomeroy Cafe and grocery store will be reopening in the next month under the new management of Amber Danneman. The cafe will feature a new menu that will change every 3 months in order to offer the freshest in seasonal ingredients available. Everything will be made from scratch down to the house baked bread, buns and sweet treats.  As many fresh ingredients as possible will be locally sourced from farmers and gardeners in the surrounding area and throughout Iowa. Daily specials will still be offered as well as the Sunday brunch buffet. 

The grocery store will remain the same for the time being. In the future I would like to stock it with items that cater to the local customer base. I welcome all suggestions from customers on what you would like to see offered in the store. I also intend on selling as much local produce, meat, eggs and other Iowa made products. I would really like to see this become a community grocery store that offers something you can't find anywhere else in the area. 

I do not have a definite opening date at this time, but should know in the next week and will keep everyone updated.
